The Papua New Guinean Discovery

Between June 2, 2005 and August 7, 2005 I went to Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe Bible Translators. It was a time when God confirmed that He wants me there for His work. At the time I am a student at Davis College in New York State studying and preparing to go back to PNG full time.

Beautiful view isn't it

Here is a beautiful view looking off the end of the airstrip in at the base of Mount Tawua. This is the airstrip that our team landed on when coming into Folopa. I still remember landing on that airstrip on July 1, 2005. We did not know a word of the Folopa language and it was kinda weird not knowing what they were saying. Our pilot told us to say Koneo, which is a greeting in the Folopa language and the kids went crazy. We would than make the 1/2 mile walk down to Neil and Carol's house.

I bet the walk was difficult!?! The terrain looks unbelievably dense! That would definately be intimidating not knowing what these strangers were saying about you!! How exciting!
