The Papua New Guinean Discovery

Between June 2, 2005 and August 7, 2005 I went to Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe Bible Translators. It was a time when God confirmed that He wants me there for His work. At the time I am a student at Davis College in New York State studying and preparing to go back to PNG full time.

News from Papua New Guinea first week in PNG

Greetings everyone on the world wide web. Greetings from Papua New
Guinea in the name of Jesus Christ. Well the first week as almost come
to a close here in PNG. The time here has been very wonderful. The
people are wonderful and lovely. We have been learning tok pisin which
is the trade language of PNG. Many people in this country know it. My
tok pisin teacher is a local from a Nobonob village. He speaks both
his heart language of Nobnob and Tok Pisin and English. The weather
has been hot and humid being only a few degrees below the equator. I
have enjoyed ever minute here. I have been sleeping well at night and
seeing many wonderful creatures. Beautiful creation that God has make.
Moths the size of my hand! We have tracked through the bush with
guides as we practice our tok pisin. Wow the hikes tire me out! I
think I will be a few pounds lighter by the time I leave PNG in August.
We had tea with our teacher today and met his mary (wife) and his
child Pedro. We will be going out to spend several nights with a
village family. Learning how to live in the bush. Pray for us as we
go to live in the bush. Soon after that we will go to SIL headquarters
before I will head to the tribe that Neil and Carol Anderson are
working in, out in the Southern Highlands. The beauty that is around
here is beyond words, so I have taken over 100 pictures with my digital
camera. WOW just doesn't say enough. To look down into the valleys
below you and see the trees and the huts of the people and the sky
above and the ocean with island out on the other side! It is
beautiful! The pictures just don't do it justice. The other night I
saw the Southern Cross and the beautiful stars that you just don't get
to see in the North. It is so wonderful to serve the Creator of the
Universe. The Great I AM. The Alpha and the Omega. Tomorrow we get
to go to a Nobonob church and we are sing "You are Holy/Prince of
Peace." It will still be Saturday for you in the States. Well good
night to everyone in the States. Good Night from PNG. God Bless

Corey
